English is well known as an international standard language and it is imperative for those who live in this globalization era. There are over 750 million people who speak English as a foreign language and in the year 2000, the British Council asserted that about a billion people were learning English. There are so many benefits of learning English and people can be found on many sides, such as in the international business community, technology field, and social life.

English as the language of international business

English holds a vital role in making the business go well. English is very helpful when a company builds cooperation with another international company from a different country. A business person must understand and use English well in the business world. Besides that, a company prefers to hire an employee who has good skills in language, especially English.

English as the language of technology

English also plays a large part in the growth of technology. Almost every electronic device uses English, especially computing and the internet. Every command in the computer is in English and to operate it, people should understand English first. There is a lot of information written in English on the internet, such as through email, blogs, and social networks. It shows that learning English gives many benefits to the advance in technology.
